Last Name FRIDAY

Summary/Contribute

Meaning Nickname: Probably given in some such way as Robinson Crusoe's man Friday got his sobriquet. It does not seem to be a corruption of something else, as in the case of local Munday. The old Friday suoerstition may have something to do with it. It is also possible that the person was just born on that day which gave that last name a start. Like in the case of Nowell, Pentecost, Chistmas, etc.
